“I have no regrets, because I’ve done everything I could to the best of my ability.”– Robert Redford
Instead of complaining about all the things you don’t have, think positively on the things that you DO. And then maybe think on the reason why you want these things, can you live without them? Would you be a better person if instead of spending $5.00 on a coffee, you gave it to a homeless person, or even give the coffee to someone more in need? I am not perfect, I can be materialistic as well, but I do appreciate and love the simple things in life; family & good friends, even the homeless guy in this pic appreciates the companionship of his four legged friend. I love all my fur babies; the unconditional love they give back. We can learn from them
I hear ‘it’ at work all the time, the crazy stuff people complain about……..I often think, and would love to say; “Can you hear yourself complain? With everything that is going on in the world, you stop to complain about that? Go home and hug your kids, call your parents and tell them you love them. Visit a friend for a coffee or glass of wine (or beer), ask how they are……….enjoy their company. Take a walk in the park, watch a sunset, watch a bee on a flower, breathe in fresh air.”
But most of all be with the ones you love, it doesn’t matter if that is 1 or 100, love them with all your heart & laugh often………for surely it is the journey that matters and not the destination. I would rather pull in at the last stop completely used up, spent & broken and say “Man what a ride”, than appear in good shape and well rested and say, “My life is full of regret for the things I never did”.
Appreciate what you have now, the family & friends you have now, be true & honest to yourself. You may not have anything, but if you have just 1 person who believes in you, you can have it all.
P.S. I found the photo online and thought it was beautiful, haunting image that seemed to sum up all I wanted to say.
