In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “I’d Like to Thank My Cats.”
You are receiving an award –- either one that already exists, or a new one created just for you. What would the award be, why are you being honored, and what would you say in your acceptance speech?
It’s actually kind of sad to admit it, but apart from at school I don’t think I have ever won an award for anything. Sure there have been some art competitions I have won, but that is not exactly the same is it?
So if I was to win an award, I wonder what it could be, and would it be posthumously or while I am still alive? I’d hate to be sitting by the Pearly Gates and find out I’d finally been awarded Photographer of the Year or something like that……….and it would be just my luck too!
Kind of like winning Lotto, the week after I died! You know like that Alanis Morissett song, ‘Ironic”
An old man turned ninety-eight
He won the lottery and died the next day
It’s a black fly in your Chardonnay
It’s a death row pardon two minutes too late
And isn’t it ironic… don’t you think
I think I got one of those Mum of the Year mugs somewhere when the kids were little for Mother’s Day…………does that count? Most Mum’s are the Best Mum in the world, but hey what do we really have to compare with? I must admit I would love to be remembered for something after I leave this life, but what? I would like to leave a mark, a legacy, something with which people would say, ‘Hey Julz did that! and this is Where she did it’. Sounds dumb, right? I know my legacy is in my children and perhaps one day my children’s children, but sometimes I wish for a little more. Don’t get me wrong I don’t want to be famous like Angelina Jolie or anything, I still want my privacy. But it would be cool if people knew who I was, when I am no longer here.
So yes put me up for Photographer of the Year (or month?), Blogger of the Year, Published Author………….or what ever. My acceptance speach………..mmmmmmmmmm I guess it would go something like this….
I would like to thank my family, friends, myself! and of course……………..drum roll. My Cats!
And why not, it would confuse everyone wouldn’t it?! Oh I should probably mention the dogs too!
