Places

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Places.”

Beach, mountain, forest, or somewhere else entirely?

I love to travel, anywhere really, each has its own merits. I love the beach, the waves crashing, the rolling surf, the sand between my toes, I love to be out on the water too. I don’t sail as such, but I do like to go sailing……….funny huh?

I do love to be in the mountains as well, there is something about the clean, crisp air, it is revitalizing for mind and body, don’t get me wrong, I am not much for hiking as such, but as long as it’s a fairly easy climb I’m in – just don’t expect me to get near the edge!! But I must admit, I do enjoy the views (from a safe distance), and the mountain streams and waterfalls are pretty amazing after the rains.

And then there is the Forest, something magical happens in a forest. The imagination can run wild, magic can happen, elves and fairies and creatures of old inhabit forests. You can still hear their whispers on the breeze and rustle of the leaves. Where dark, silent critters hide in the burrows, and birds sing and squawk in the trees. The light becomes gentle and filtered, dust mites float on the gentle breeze. Time seems to slow down in a forest. There are different forests of course; tropical, beech, sub tropical, rain, timber, redwood………….the list is fairly extensive and I have yet to visit them all.

Don’t forget other places, the lakes and rivers where one can sit and watch life go by, join in on adventure activities or just be. A stroll around a lake or a river stream can be relaxing and peaceful, or it can be exciting.

And last, but not least, is the city………..any city can be full of life, excitement, adventure, lights, color, activity, people, danger. You can watch the ebb and flow of humanity or join in the with hustle and bustle.

I know this has been more of a photo post than a writing post………….but a picture tells a 1,000 words!
