Every week Robyn at Captivate me host the One Four Challenge, it is time now for another image. I have been delving into some new images and new techniques over the last few months, working with some abstract images and creating some even more abstract art. This month I thought I would start with a poor photo, which has a composition I love and see what I can do to save it and turn into a beautiful piece of art…….this is a Long exposure shot taken at Taggerty Cascade a few weeks back. I had another image from the same spot, which I was mostly happy with, but thought I would see where there is one takes me.
Normally I finish with a B&W Image, so this week I thought I would start with one. I brought the exposure up, a lot in Lightroom, brought up the blacks and shadow, dropped the highlights and whites, I cropped the image as I had blown out the highlights in the top of the image by now and it destroyed the look and feel. I exported in Nik Silver FX and ran through a few different filters and end up with a look I was happy with.

Nikon D7100, 18mm Focal Length, ISO 100, f/5.6, 30 seconds using ICE ND1000 Filter
This is what it look like out of the camera (SOOC), a little dark
Til next time, happy snapping

Love that you started with BW this time around – your result is really great.
Love the detail and the softness of the water.
Will watch with interest.

You have extracted some great detail, yet kept the water milky. Nice!
