Another week another theme from wheresmybackpack, this week it’s Luminous.
Lu·mi·nous[loo-muh-nuhs]ADJECTIVE1.radiating or reflecting light; shining; bright.2.lighted up or illuminated; well-lighted: the luminous ballroom.3.brilliant intellectually; enlightened or enlightening, as a writer or a writer’s works: a luminous concept; luminous prose.4.clear; readily intelligible: a concise, luminous report.
I have travelled far and wide (well not really, but you know), I must admit I now have a new appreciation for my home Capital City – Melbourne. I know a lot of people are proud of their city, and so they should be, but I don’t live that close to Melbourne, over 40kms away. I have not visited Melbourne much over the years, but this last 12 months I think I have visited more times than in the whole of my life. I love the lights at night and very early morning, Melbourne is such a pretty city when it’s dark, even early evening. I would even go so far as to say it is Luminous!

Enjoy your weekend……..

I love the way the brighter areas in photo 2, are balanced leading one’s eye through the photograph. Actually, this is apparent in all of them. I am a tad jealous you get to see Melbourne in this way. I could move there tomorrow if it wasn’t for commitments.

It’s funny, I hated the city, never went. Now I have a whole new appreciation for her beauty, the buildings, lights, the river. Given a camera and the right scenes, my Melbourne is a gorgeous young thing. Not old and historic like other countries, but young and vibrant

We are only youngin a historical sense, especially architecturally, Julz but Melbourne certainly has some geand old buildings from the Gold rush days.

True….in the grand scheme of things we are a very young country, with a lot of interesting history crammed in, and a love of everything old and historic

I love the crisp quality of the third shot. The way the light plays on the killings is really neat.
