After a short break, we are back on board with Cee’s Compose Yourself Challenge, this week is Horizontal Lines. The Natural Horizon is an obvious choice, however there are so many other options, from natural to man made. I too prefer a straight horizon, although occasionally I will purposefully make it crooked for an artistic reason (usually in a portrait scenario). Anyway here is my gallery of horizon lines…………I usually straighten my images in Lightroom, it has the easier horizon straightening tool ever!
Occasionally it can be a little difficult to make the horizon look straight, the rock against the sky, well the rock isn’t straight, I could force it straight, but then it would not look natural. The old pylons by the pier, they run off at odd angles occasionally giving a slightly warped feel to the horizon line.
I think these photos are amazing. I especially like the piling a and the lone tree. What a cool perspective.

What a dramatic effect with the solitary tree on the horizon! I don’t think it distracts the eye because the line is not straight. My favourite is the one with the sun’s rays breaking through over the coastline. Fantastic…..should be in a tourist brochure.

thanks! I was particularly fond of that shot, as originally I thought it was a throw away, when I learnt some shadow recovery I found that! coastline under all that bright light.
