One could be forgiven thinking in light of recent events, this was a spur of the moment Festival to celebrate all things French, but it was not. My Friend, Sue and I had booked this week’s ago, but now there is even more reason to celebrate and show our solidarity. It is an annual event, the Paris to Provence French Festival where they create a whimsical French pop up villages for 3 days. There are a French markets, French Chefs, cultural activities, so much French food and wine, roaming performers, French music, Children’s’ garden and activities, French Photography contest & exhibition and even a French bulldogs dress-up party, all located in the grounds of the beautiful Como House in Melbourne. Our First stop was to quickly tour the House before the crowds arrived, gorgeous little house with all original features and furniture.
At Midday we all stood to sing both the French and Australian National Anthem, there was so much food from all over France, especially croissants, cheeses, brioche, crepes and champagne! I was a bit disappointed that I saw no Mime artists (very few street performers in general). This was our first foray to this festival and it was wonderful, Sue and I do enjoy our cultural festivals, we attended the Dutch Festival, and tomorrow we are going to a German Market and Christmas Festival! There is another French Christmas Market in a few weeks as well.
til next time, happy snapping…………
