Desley from a Frequently Flying Scientist has started a new writing challenge. Each week she will share with us a quote from her Kikki.K A Sentence a Day Journal and her response; we then write our own.I am not one normally for writing challenges, but I will give it a go, it sounds fun.
What is something important my parents taught me.
My parents taught me a lot, basic morals and guidelines to live well with other. They taught me to be independent and think for myself and not to always rely on others. They also taught me that sometimes it is OK to ask for help. They taught me to work hard, but play hard too. I should never have apologise for working hard for what I want, nor to be apologetic or embarrassed by what working hard has given me in life. They also inspired my travel and showed me the world. They encouraged me to be creative and supported my endeavours.
My parents also taught me what a real relationship is like, understanding, patience and friendship and of course lots of laughter. My parents taught me to be respectful of others and to have compassion for my fellow man, but not to be browbeaten into submission nor hoodwinked by scammers.
My Parents taught me that education is important and you never truly stop learning in life, there is always a new challenge ahead and everything in life changes, technology, work, life.
But most of all my Parents shaped me to be the person I am today, strong, independent, stubborn (sometimes a little wilful – I was a rebellious teen), and they never quashed my imagination.

yes it is a fact of life, but it’s still sad watching your parents fade away. Mine were both so strong willed and independent, even now I try to help and they tell me to butt out

Oh that’s got to be hard if they’re refusing help. I hope that gets less stressful for you in time
