Still Life Series – Wine and Grapes

Last week, I got a bit over enthusiastic and released two Still Life post in one day……I was planning to only do one a week. So this week I am slowing things down and decided to do the classic wine bottle, glass and grapes. I am pretty sure almost any painter who lived has done this one, and possibly a lot of still life photographers.

So I took a few different images and processed them in oils, pencil, charcoal, used the Orton Effect, and a HDR effect.

I did all the shots with natural light, in the late afternoon, soft hazy light. I particularly like the last two, the Orton Effect reminds me of old school Hollywood, dramatic lighting, I also like the very top image I have been experimenting with importing textures within PS. Very interesting.

  1. I love the first and last in this series. I haven’t done this still life yet. It’s on my list, but I don’t do still-life too often. I have to have be in the mood, and have a composition in my head which is rare! 🙂
