Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge – Musical Chairs

Obviously looking to go outside the box on this month’s series of Fun Foto Challenges, Cee is going for children’s games: Musical Chairs. So I have a random assortment of chairs, of which NONE are musical, some occassionlly squeak, but nothing remsembling a tune.

Did you spot the invisible chair?

Spring Outings – Olinda Falls

Not too far from where I live is the fabulous Dandenong Ranges, I have written many posts about our various adventures up there. I was recently asked to do a Private Client shoot at Olinda Falls…..I have never been. Funny isn’t we sometimes don’t know about treasures in our own backyard?

We drove out there for an Engagement shoot for Rachel and James…..such a cute couple getting married in March 2017. This is where James Proposed, so a fitting spot.

Don’t let their clothes and sunlight fool you, it was actually a little chilly, considering we are only a few days from Summer. I finished the shoot and then we stayed and did a little bit of long exposure and playing around.

It is a small spot, this is the higher falls and there is lower falls, I didn’t even attempt to get down too……….so steep and slippery. As it was I had to make the long arduous climb back up. For some this may not have been much, but being incredible unfit, with bad knees, hips and ankle, as well as carrying all that camera gear……….to say I was exhausted when I finally got to the top, was an understatement.

A few more months and this will probably be bone dry, or with barely a trickle, even now apparently it is not as full as usual, even with all the recent rains.

Til next time, safe travels and happy snapping…

Share Your World – Week 48

Cee’s Share Your world is back for week 48, with a few seemingly simple questions. I don’t also get a chance to write something up for this one, but I do when I can.

Do you prefer eating foods with nuts or no nuts? I honestly don’t have a preference, I like nuts, have no allergies to them and am quite happy to eat them; almonds, cashew, brazil nuts, peanuts…….I don’t think i’ve met a nut I don’t like. Unless you are talking about crazy people (like Emilio), then yes let me at ’em. I am considered quite weird, so I am happy to dine with nuts as well! :- )

If someone made a movie of your life would it be a drama, a comedy, a romantic-comedy, action film, or science fiction? Being a little over dramatic here, but my life would be like one long episode of ER or Greys Anatomy, I’ve spent so much time in hospitals. Still I am doing so much better than other people who have fared worse than I. Perhaps a comedy, as I stated before I am considered quite strange and funny in some circles.

Who talks real sense to you? Funnily enough, people I tend to agree with. Have you ever noticed that if you have a different point of view than someone, you often consider then a tad senile, stupid, dare I say idiotic? Think about it.

Do you have a favorite board game? I don’t play often these days, but I did like Cluedo and Monopoly, another favourite is Hero Quest.

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up? To be honest I am grateful for every day I actually wake up. I say this a lot, but it is true. I am also grateful for friends, new and old, who allow me to be……ME. I am also grateful for the opportunities I am often being give, to photograph, to watch, to learn, to take part, to witness history come to life. This week I am going on a cruise along the Yarra River and Melbourne Harbor……..something I have never done before in my own home state. Should be fun.

Another 52 Week Challenge – Week 16

This week’s theme from The Girl Who Dreams Awake for the 52 week challenge is laughter. They say laughter is the best medicine, I tend to agree. Nothing picks me up more than a good laugh. If you see someone of the street, give them a smile (it’s free) and spread the cheer…….if nothing else they might think you’re up to something naughty lol.

Don’t foget, keep smiling…

Monday’s Musings…

Yet another exhausting weekend, quite literally. Friday evening was a hive of activity getting ready for another big weekend, that’s all we have leading up to Christmas, so many fun activities planned; I cannot wait to enjoy each and every one of them. Saturday morning we drove up to Wandin North (up in the Dandenong Ranges) to visit Mont de Lacey Homestead for the annual Draft Horse and Machinery Show, the morning was cloudy and cool, but cleared as the day progressed. Many wonderful hour was spent looking at old machinery, buildings, the Blacksmith, horses and vintage cars. There was a cattle dog demonstration and wonderful rose gardens.

We left and drove to Healesville and visited the Glass Blowing Gallery, very interesting, but a wee bit expensive for my budget, sorry no photos allowed. We then drove up through Eltham, stopped briefly at Monsalvat (we will have to do another trip to this wonderful old buildings), enjoying the views over Wineries and gardens.

We then headed out to Lalor to DomJohn’s Automotive workshop for a Fine Art Nude Workshop with some vintage cars and light painting……wowsers what a mix, so much fun.

Sunday was up early again and headed back up the mountain for a Engagement shoot with a lovely young couple at Olinda Falls, where James Proposed. After the shoot we bid Rachel and James a fond fare well and stayed to play with a little bit of long exposure………well it was a waterfall after all! Pretty little spot, but the walk back to the car nearly killed me after the weekends exploits.  I then spent all Sunday afternoon on the PC, so many photos to edit!

I will post more images from our wonderful weekend later, once I’ve had a chance to go through all the images 🙂

I hope you have a brilliant week, til next time, happy snapping…

WPC – It’s not this time of year without…

I guess there is a lot happening at this time of year; the obvious one that comes to mind is Thanks Giving. I’m an Aussie, and we don’t celebrate it, but I grew up on American sitcoms, so I guess I have become a bit of an outside observer?

What’s Thanks Giving without the turkey? Actually I love a good roast turkey and we have it every Christmas, mine is the all breast roll kind that comes from the supermarket.

But to me this time of year is all about Christmas and Summer………I love the warmer months. Nothing more welcoming than a lovely wreath on a front door.

Of course in Australia it also means, hot summer days and visits to the beach and BBQs.

So what does this time of year mean for you? Whatever it is I hope you enjoy it the way YOU want, ignore the consumerism and enjoy life the way you envision……..maybe that’s on the couch with a good book and a glass of red, or a picnic with family, a quiet afternoon in the mountains, or just walking the dog………enjoy life – I am.

Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge – Shapes

Cee’s B&W challenge this week is geometric shapes, searching my archives I feel I am coming up a bit short. My shapes are more earthly than geometric, but all are man made. I have gone with the repeated pattern, but often subtle…….circle made of rectangular bricks. Converging lines leading to a rectangle..square within a square, triangles and cubes.

I hope everyone (who celebrates it) enjoyed their Thanks Giving and I hope you all have a fabulous weekend.
