Summer Outings – Melbourne Zoo, Butterfly House

Melbourne has three main Zoos; Healesville Sanctuary we visited earlier in the year (you can read about it here and here), Werribee Open Range Zoo (which we hope to get to over the Summer) and Royal Melbourne Zoo; the eldest. The Melbourne Zoo, has gone through quite a change, as most modern zoos have in the last 30 – 40 years. More animal conservation and upkeep of more natural habitat and environment. One of these recent additions is the Butterfly House, built 31 years ago. We were quite keen to get in there with the cameras, Moth had the Macro, I just had my standard lens. Of my it was hot and humid and packed with people, but butterflies everywhere, on plants, feeding dishes, people.

There was even a keeper there with a giant stick insect.

So that brings me to the end of the Melbourne Zoo, I hope you enjoyed you visit with us. Until our next adventure, stay safe and happy snapping…
