Leaving Ubud and onto the Wedding

After 6 days here in Ubud we are leaving hill country and heading to the east coast beaches for a wedding. It has been raining on and off for the last 2.5 days and I am over being hot and wet.  Although it was a little chilly up high in the mountains, which was a pleasant change. We continued our exploration of the island and have seen so many temples it’s beyond belief, have also learned a great deal about the Balinese Hindu way of life. Yesterday we went to Bali Zoo, most of which is under construction, so not so many animals. The animals we did see were hiding from the rain….but I did get to see a white tiger and a lion and lioness. We did not ride the elephants again….I have very bruised legs from the last time.

The day before yesterday we drive up into the mountains to see Lake Betan and the private car we had broken down on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. Wonderful locals helped us limp to the nearest village which had a workshop and a mechanic of sorts. While they worked out how to fix our car someone drove us in a deathtrap jalopy to get some lunch and wait it out in more comfortable surroundings ….what an adventure and thank goodness our guide was a local, if it was just us I would have freaked out.

The rain was incessant and we saw minor flooding in lots of places

Well, that is it, for now, we are shortly off to our next resort for this afternoons wedding.
