Thought I might try something a little different this week. While on holiday we were sitting in the hotel lobby waiting for our driver and I was watching the rain. As there were no window panes I had a clear view of this frangipani just outside and decided to play with exposure settings to see how my new Sony a7ii handled various settings.

All were shot a F/6.3 aperture and at 200mm, I love the difference the ISO makes to how much the camera captures the raindrops.
So this is my RegularRandom for this week. Don’t forget the rules!
- choose a subject or a scene
- spend five minutes photographing it – no more!
- try to not interfere with the subject, instead see it from many angles, look through something at it, change the light that’s hitting it
- have fun!
- tag your post #regularrandom and pingback to this post
Don’t forget to drop in and see everything else posts for this week, Desley has a super cute cat and some pretty little flowers.

Wonderful frangipani photos, especially with the rain drops!

You’re making the most out of your new baby, Julz.
Gorgeous results. I love the ISO 1600, because it shows the raindrops and is still sharp. Though I prefer the frangipani less exposed.
I am going to Iceland in mid-November and in all tutorials I read about shooting the Northern lights, they recommend your super full frame. Too bad I don’t have one! Want to come along?

I would love to come along…..actually I have been invited along next year as well….still trying to decide if A/ I can physically do it and B/ if I can afford it…but I hope you have a fantastic trip and I am sure you’ll grab some amazing pictures

Then I’ll join you next year! We never know if we are going to be lucky enough to see it. If we had been there this weekend, we would have seen only clouds. It’s an experience!
I’m not well equipped yet as I need a wide angle lens. My husband has a EM 1 and I have a EM10. Not full frame!
I’m already making a list of all we will need there.
It’s going to be really cold and I may not be able to shoot anything if my fingers freeze! Haha

Love it. I did a similar comparison a couple of years ago. It’s cool to see the differences.
