Share Your World – 21st November 2017

If you were having difficulty on an important test and could safely cheat by looking at someone else’s paper, would you do so? Ooh tough question, am I allowed to yes maybe for a hit of inspiration, but not to downright copy? At school, I never would have, in fact, I was probably terrified of getting caught. But I know when I am looking for inspiration for a particular theme for a shoot, I look at work by other artists for ideas, not to copy, just to feel inspired.

What things in nature do you find most beautiful? Water, a river, a lake, but mostly the beach. I must also mention a sunrise or sunset. Some of my favorite memories of the last few years involve a sunrise at the beach. There is something about rising in the pre-dawn light and listening to the stillness, feeling the calm wash over you, the solitude, peace, and wonder as you watch the sun come up over the ocean. Over the last three years (ever since I got my camera) I have seen more sunrises than ever before, I also have a new appreciation for such sweet, beautiful moments in time. Not every sunrise is spectacular, but the feelings remain the same. I should do it more often.

Complete this sentence: When I travel I love to…explore everything that I can. I am not one to visit a place and sit by a pool and drink cocktails all day. I love to explore everything I can from sunrise to sunset, and sometimes beyond that. I will occasionally sit by the beach, a pool or some nice restaurant with a cocktail before dinner and discuss the day’s adventures, that is my relax time. Occasionally if it is a particularly grueling and taxing holiday we will pick one day or maybe just an afternoon to relax, perhaps a massage or a sleep in. I tend to spend weeks, if not months researching where I want to go, what I want to see and the history or culture of the place I am visiting. It makes it so much more interesting than just turning up and going ‘oh ok, seen it…next!”.

What inspired you or what did you appreciate this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination. I have been so busy this week, I have not had time to feel inspired, just hard at it work, shooting, editing and getting set up for the next shoot. Melbourne finally has some Spring sunshine, or what passes for Spring in Melbourne, we get a few lovely days of blue clouds fluffy white clouds, cool morning and lovely sunny days, and then it gets warm, rather warm and we suddenly seem to slip into Summer. It’s swimming weather, the mornings are quite warm, the days hot and sunny and bright and the evenings warm and balmy – I love it. I did a shoot in the studio last night and we had all the doors and windows open to the evening breeze, beautiful. I am hoping tonight is the same and I can sit on my deck with a nice cool drink and watch the evening birds and the sunset.

From sunrise to Sunset
