I know I usually do an object, but this week, I thought I would share something from my virtual backyard (I live at the foot of the Dandenongs Ranges). This is Silvan Reservoir, or Silvan Dam, as I always knew it. I have not been up here for a very long time, I have dim memories of walking along that dirt track on the edge of the dam, as seen in the first photo. This is one of the main water storage for Melbourne and these days all fenced off, it’s such a shame, but I guess a modern necessity. I managed to shoot off a few shots through the wire fence and a small gap we found.
So tranquil, but not much else to see, so we only stopped for a few minutes, also found some more bees on some pretty nettle blossoms. We also left before those storm clouds brewing in the images hit.
If you would like to join in the RegularRandom challenge, here are the rules:
- choose a subject or a scene
- spend five minutes photographing it – no more!
- try to not interfere with the subject, instead see it from many angles, look through something at it, change the light that’s hitting it
- have fun!
- tag your post #regularrandom and ping back to this post or Desley’s page

I especially love the macro Thistle shots! 🙂

thanks, Tom, I know some consider it a common weed, but I really like the structural aspect to the plant, and of course the vibrant colours

Same here! I find it much more dynamic and intricately beautiful than a lot of domestic and greenhouse oriented plants; plus, it attracts butterflies and bees like nothing else!
