Regular Random – Dying Chrysanthemum

I bought some Chrysanthemums for a photo shoot and as per usual did a few little mini shoots as well, then promptly forget them! I was tidying up in the studio days later and noticed they were nearly dead, but I plucked this last one and had a quick little play, great for Regular Random, the colour was drab and horrible, so I did them all in B&W, with soft white natural backlight

If they had been taken out of the water, they may have dried quite nicely, but alas I didn’t to do that. I originally picked this bunch as the centers so looked like dahlias (the same family I believe), which are amongst my favorite flowers.

  • choose a subject or a scene
  • spend five minutes photographing it – no more!
  • try to not interfere with the subject, instead see it from many angles, look through something at it, change the light that’s hitting it
  • have fun!
  • tag your post #regularrandom and ping back to this or Desley’s post
