This week I will feature the last three days of our trip to Brisbane…
Got up even earlier to drive out to Redlands before it got too hot, it was really nice to see some blue sky and fluffy white clouds, this is the QLD I wanted, “beautiful one day, perfect the next”. We drove over Story Bridge and out to Wellington Point Jetty, saw some pelicans and just enjoyed the lovely view
We then drove across the Peninsula to Cleveland Point to visit the beach and Lighthouse, such a pretty spot. Yay! Another Lighthouse and such a pretty one too. We have seen a few, but frankly nothing worthy of photography.
We then drove back home for a well-deserved coffee, before moving on again. By this time the kids were up and ready, this was my Daughter’s only full day off work while we were here and we all wanted to spend it together. My Son in Law drove us all into Southbank for a stroll along the riverside and to the large man-made lake or beach. It even has a sandy beachfront and a lifeguard on duty, such a fabulous idea, right in the city. Next, we stopped at the entertainment precinct and enjoyed a long leisurely lunch and margaritas at Cactus Republic Mexican Restaurant – yummy! We visited the Peace Pagoda and the Brisbane Wheel as well.
We then stopped at a very interesting Ice Cream parlor, called Nitro Genie, a counter-serve shop making creative ice creams with liquid nitrogen in an open kitchen. They even had Gluten Free and Dairy options. Funny thing is I took all these images but none of our final product, my mango sorbet was delish, had to eat it before it melted!
We wandered around the area some more and then finally back home for a wonderful home-cooked meal. That night we again headed out to Mount Coot-tha to a clear sky, a supermoon (well officially the Supermoon was the day before but we were completely clouded in and couldn’t see it) and finished off with coffee and cake.
Day 5 is the Botanic Gardens, more wonderful bridges and Brisbane by Night
