My sweet Hubby bought me some stunning red roses for Valentine’s Day, let me say that generally, this is not something we go for, too commercial, but we missed our 27th Wedding Anniversary due to work commitments, so we decided to have a little splurge this year. I bought him chocolates and he bought me roses. Of course, I cannot just let perfectly good roses just sit in a vase on the bench…so I did a little 5 minute random with some lovely soft backlight, early one evening.
All are shot on my Sony a7ii with the 50mm prime lens, the up close I also added a 16mm extension tube and shot F/3.5, the others were F/1.8.
This was not the only shoot I did with my roses, so be prepared for more post 🙂
Fancy joining the RegularRandom brigade?! Jump on board. Here’s how:
- choose a subject or a scene
- spend five minutes photographing it – no more!
- try to not interfere with the subject, instead see it from many angles, look through something at it, change the light that’s hitting it
- have fun!
- tag your post #regularrandom and pingback to this post or to Desley’s page

P.S. When did Saint Valentine’s Day become V Day?
