I wrote last week that Desley Jane and I had put aside a day to catch up and have some fun in the studio. Our last couple of get together’s have been more of a social with some retail therapy, so with Desley’s shoulder healing, I thought it was time to get the cameras out. I did not actually tell Desley WHAT we were doing, just that I had everything planned, including lunch. That is all quite novel in itself, we usually spend several days or “what do you want to do”, “I don’t know what do you want to do? and so on…so this time I took charge 🙂
Just ONE of the things I had planned is quite novel in its inception, if not in the subject. I set up a white corner and a dark corner, one for Desley and one for me, we each had identical vintage crystal bowl (only the best will do) and luscious fruit which we then captured having cream poured over until it overflowed. We took turns pouring the cream over each others fruit, while they took the photos.
Desley is well known for her light and bright and pretty still life, pops of colour and dreaminess, mine are well known for their dark and moody, slightly edgy slightly less saturated colour. It was an interesting experiment.
We agreed to post the images at the same time, so pop over to Desley’s page to check her version out, I am quite excited by this actually. Dessert with Desley.

There is plenty more we had fun with yesterday and so many images to go through. I offered up a special surprise for Desley, which she went a little bit overboard with her macro lens with, but I will let her tell you all about THAT on her post…eventually. She does have an awful lot of photos to get through. 🙂 (cue evil laugh)
Seriously though we had lots of fun, some great tunes (Desley bought the new Pink CD) and lots of laughs. I have so many images to sort through but will post them all eventually.

thank you, did you go look at the white one too?

I started with the white one, Julie, because I follow Des. I’m not a photographer though so my comment is just an opinion. 🙂
