I have been featuring so many photos from my afternoon of fun with Desley, and yes, there are still plenty more to come. But, for today I will be brief. We placed the frozen apricot roses in the dark corner and placed a snoot over them, A/ to give some ambient mood and B/ to melt the ice some more. I thought I might do this little one for my 5 minutes, as that was about all I gave it.Β
For some reason, I stuffed up the settings and these are the only two images I was really happy with, I felt light and bright that day and not dark and moody at all…go figure?
Want to join us?
- choose a subject or a scene
- spend five minutes photographing it
- try to not interfere with the subject, instead see it from many angles, look through something at it, change the light thatβs hitting it
- tag your post #regularrandom and pingback to this post
I hope you are having a lovely day…

P.S. will post the light frozen roses later this week.
I like both versions; these and desleyjane’s high-key images but wondered about showcasing more of ice’s texture.
I think that when I have a bit of time I’ll try a similar thing with different flowers and some leaves.
Anyway, great idea for a dedicated shoot.

I have done that also, for the ice texture I mean, we did other flowers and I have more posts come up as well. But yes you should try it, very interesting, it amazing that most of the flowers and leaves appear completely unharmed

I had my camera shutter speed too low (like really low) and the were blurry and obviously too dark to focus properly. I shod know better, but like I said I wasnt really feeling the dark and moody lol

It was a quite a strange strong contrast between the dark table and the warm snoot light and the cold ice…

Sure was. I am usually intrigued with this. Perhaps my tastes are changing?
