Frozen in Time…

He didn’t come…Spring rolled into Winter as I stood there waiting. I stood for an eternity for a love that never blossomed, never took flight. Why hast thou forsaken me, my love? I offered my heart, my soul and you gave nothing in return, tore my heart from me and left me a hollow shell. My soul is frozen in time, cold as my heart, my body, the landscape before me. Spring may come again, but not for me, I will remain lost in time, forever frozen in my pain.

My youth, my beauty drained as are all the colours in the landscape, a frozen tundra. You have stolen everything from me, my love. You promised me endless sunny days filled with joy and the warmth of your love. An endless sea of pretty words and flowers, a thought I cherished with all my heart. Precious with hope and dreams, butterfly heartbeats below my breast, a flesh and blood contract of our union and sanctity, a sad and lonely tree that will bear no fruit.

I watch the world go past in my mind’s eye, with my eyes closed to the mundane ebb and flow, for I cannot bear to look upon these mortal souls leading such trivial lives. Our love was the stuff of legends, the happily ever after craved by so many, a heady love adorned by the multitudes. So few can ever truly reach the grandeur of what we had. A crystal palace spun of sugar and daydreams, now shattered like my heart.

I was such a fool…
