Finally! I get to post some Summer outings, It’s not that we haven’t been out much, it’s just that Summer has only just started, I feel like it’s been ages since we went anywhere, but it’s not, not really. November, moving into December gets to be a really busy time of the year and this was our first round of Christmas activities. One of our photography clubs had it’s annual Christmas lunch, get together and of course, a photographic event all rolled into one. We met in the car park and picnic area in Mitcham and had a great picnic, with loads of laughter and chatting to various old and new friends alike. We have been with this group from the very start and it was fantastic to see it growing so much.
We had a Secret Santa, I fared better than previous years, alas poor Moth did not, my gift is at least usable, a gift voucher to an electronics store, I guess we may re-gift Moths to a wine drinker we know! Eventually, the cottage and museum opened in the afternoon and we spent several lovely hours in the bright sunshine exploring and photographing the grounds. And of course, chatting and catching up with more friends along the way.
Schwerkolt Cottage
Built in 1884, Schwerkolt Cottage is an original pioneer’s stone cottage surrounded by 2.25 hectares of bushland. The cottage has been restored to its original condition and furnished in the style of the period. Visitors can evoke the past by exploring the delightful cottage and its barn, wine cellar, smokehouse and orchard machinery shed.
I got to play with my new wide angle lens too, so nice to be able to stand so close and still catch all the details! Such a fabulous day out, sadly over way too soon and we had to head home to catch up on other duties. Hopefully, we can get out and about soon.
