Every Mother’s Day for the last few years my Daughters have been buying me flowers, not so unusual I know, but they never used to. Since I have really gotten back into photography and especially my still life, they buy me flowers, as they KNOW I will not only enjoy the flowers but also enjoy capturing them in camera – WIN WIN!
In the past, they have gone for Gerberas, Dahlia, Peony and Mums, but this year they bought beautiful big red roses, actually, they bought such a huge bunch of mixed flowers as well, they did not all fit in two vases! But today is just the red roses…
Would you like to join in the RegularRandom crew? Here’s how:
- choose a subject or a scene
- spend five minutes photographing it – no more!
- try to not interfere with the subject, instead see it from many angles, look through something at it, change the light that’s hitting it
- have fun!
- tag your post #regularrandom and ping back to this post
Desley has been photographing some stunning tulips – pink of course! xo – go check them out.

How beautiful, both your photographs and the sentiment from your daughters. I never thought of photography as recycling but to be able to enjoy the roses long after they have faded seems to fit into that category.
