Share your world – 25th June 2019

Another week and another set of questions from Melanie, so let’s get to it…

Are you more a thinker or a doer? I guess I am a thinker more, probably should change that to dreamer? However, thinking and dreaming are not doing, so I force myself to be a doer. No-one is waiting to do stuff for me, although I wish they were. But if I want to achieve something I need to take action. I don’t always WANT to, but if I did not work hard and push to get where I am now, I would still be where I was thinking about how I would like things to be different.

Why is beauty associated with mortality? “Only the good die young” from Billy Joel. Perhaps we feel beautiful is associated with youth, therefore without youth, there is no beauty? Not sure I buy into that as such. I mean what is a beauty? I adore a dried (dead) rose as much as a fresh rosebud. There is beauty on the outside but there is beauty on the inside, and I often think that is more important. There are beautiful people who are ugly on the inside and when the outside has gone what are they left with? I think there can be beauty in decay and death, just not what most people think or expect. This is becoming such a morbid topic for a Tuesday morning…

If everyone spoke their mind (told the literal truth), would this world be a better place? You have to wonder, don’t you? Some people tell lies to protect others…but you’re frequently not really protecting them, you’re protecting yourself. I don’t like lies, they become tangled webs and people get lost and consumed by them. If we could only tell the truth? That could become a slippery slope, could it not. We are polite to people in public we can’t stand, it’s not so much a lie as a social nicety, but if we always told the truth, it’s possible that there would be complete anarchy.  I mean WHAT is the truth anyway, one person’s truth or their version of the truth is not necessarily someone or everyone else.

Can religious beliefs affect scientific thinking? Personally, I do not think they belong in the same sentence. Religious beliefs can cloud the mind, whereas science runs on specifics and reason and data. The proof is out there, even on scientific principles we cannot fully explain, now…we will. Cell Phones and Tablets and X-rays and medicine were once science fiction and are now science fact, religion is based solely on faith. I am not saying I don’t believe in a higher power, I just think that religion is overrated.

Attitude of Gratitude

If you’d like to, share some gratitude in photo, written form or song.

I took this image on a cold, wet miserable day in New Zealand, I was wet and cold and I have never had so much fun, felt so connected to nature, felt at one with the earth, just looking at it brings a small smile to my face, I needed that. This week has been a topsy turvy week, I am feeling a little fragile. I know I will get over it, I have to, no-one else around to pick up the pieces…

Last week I got my Digital Photo Books back from my trip to New Zealand, I finally found some time to put them all together, a little bit rushed, but something else to tick off my list. It’s been so lovely to look back through the images and remember everywhere we went and everything we saw.

Here’s hoping you have a great week…
