Another week, another round of questions from Melanie – SYW
QUESTIONS:
Social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat) a good thing, a bad thing or a mixture of both? I honestly think they are a great thing, I really only use Facebook and Instagram, it’s hard to keep up with all of them. But I have met so many people via this blog and Social Media, people I would not have previously met, whether online-only, but also in real life. It can sometimes feel like a lonely old world, but with the internet you can always find someone to connect with, relate to, chat to and laugh with. Sure there is also an ugly underbelly too, but I try and sterr away from that.
Are you camera shy or do you pose for the camera with confidence? I guess I am more camera shy, I don’t NOT have my photo taken, but I prefer to be behind the camera. I feel that while other people don’t seem to care how I look, I do.
Is there anything you’ve kept from younger years for sentimental reasons alone? A few photos and a couple of mementos, but not really very much. I have kept more of my kids’ things than my own. My Hubby has a little toy pony, which he had as a little boy. Safely stored away from small children and animals.
Do you like to decorate for different holidays? Not really no, Aussies are not really big on holidays like in other countries. Australia Day – a BBQ in the backyard or park, Easter is usually camping or BBQ in the backyard or park, lol. We do not have Thanksgiving, we do not really celebrate the seasons either. Halloween and St Patricks Day never used to be a big thing here, but it is becoming more popular, but again people do not really decorate for either. Christmas is about the only thing, just about everyone I know decorates with at least a tree and a few ornaments, we tend to be a little crazy ourselves – however, we do not go crazy every year, only the years when we host the gatherings here.
As it is Octoebr I will try and post some Halloween images from previous years…This is Day of the Dead from last year…with Blade

Thanks Julz for Sharing Your Photogenic World! 🙂 I’d heard that Australia wasn’t real big on holidays…and I find that a little bit sad, but certainly a lot more economical. I’m not sure what Americans spend on decorations, but I bet it’s a lot. Just now I’m waiting for the Christmas Light ‘guys’ to come put up my Christmas lights. They won’t be lit until December 1st, but I got a discount for having them put up early, so there that. And my yard? Has skeletons and a skeletal vulture (perched on my house sign post), and a bunch of ceramic yard ornaments clustered around my door post and garage entry. And on the lights? Scary jack-o-lantern masks. In November there’ll be a big harvest wreath with corn cobs and ribbon…and then Christmas….the lights for sure, and the ceramic snowmen, but I’m thinking little else. I’m too tired to mess about putting out a lot of stuff any more. Your way sounds easier!
