This week’s questions from Melanie at Sparksofacombustiblemind take on more of a Halloween theme and why not, it’s only a week away;
Questions
Had any good conversations with yourself lately? Did you listen to yourself? And how’d that work out for you? I am ALWAYS seemingly talking to myself, I am guaranteed a great conversation and a good giggle. But seriously, I am always telling myself to do things (which I frequently don’t), or I should stop doing things (which I also don’t listen to). But other times I am telling myself to stop being silly and just go out and get what I want. Or get off my butt and stop being lazy, or shy, or scared. My Word for last year was Braver, the year before was Brave, this year is Beleive. It works (most of the time) I believe in myself and mostly good things happen.
What is gravity and how does it work? Gravity is there to remind me that my fat ass can and will fall down a lot and when it does it usually hurts! So I need to be careful and watch where I am going and where I put my feet.
What is more real – Mind or Matter? “I don’t mind and you don’t matter?” is a long-standing joke. But I really do think the mind can work miracles. I force my self (Matter) to do things I didn’t think it was capable of, because my Mind wanted it done.
Should a vegetarian (or vegan) eat animal crackers? No, also while we are on the subject why do vegans want fake meat? Isn’t the whole problem with eating meat, so why fake it. If you want something that tastes like meat, eat meat, otherwise, stick to vegan stuff. I am not trying to be insensitive, I am just trying to understand. I eat a mostly vegetarian diet, I believe TOO much meat is consumed, especially beef – cows are not good for this planet (The science agrees), but there are other meats and protein alternatives. Don’t get me wrong I love an occasional steak but eating it 3-4 times a week I do not do. So if you are vegan because you do not believe in eating animal products – well don’t eat fake animal products either. Oh, and while we are on the subject, please do NOT try and make me feel guilty when I do consume my once or twice a year steak!
Name (describe) something you wouldn’t want to run into in dark and deserted wood or alley. Zombies, I really do not like zombies. I am old and fat and cannot run very fast, I would make a quick kill and a good meal for a few zombies. LOL
Add to that list; Freddy Kruger, a bear, a tiger or lion, a homicidal maniac, a gang banger with a gun or knife and a mission to proof. Actually, if I am totally honest just about anyone in a darkened wood or alley would frighten the bejesus out of me! I am a scaredy-cat and a sook lol. I rarely go out on my own…safety in numbers people, safety in numbers!
While we are getting into the Halloween spirit as it were, I have been doing a few Halloween themed shoots, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Hades, The Corpse Bride, this week I am also doing the Night Circus and possibly a few other bits and pieces. The image above is from the Corpse Bride, not scary at all and SO much fun.
I hope you all have a wonderful week…
~ Julz,
I like your word of the year and its connection to talking to yourself. I think you’re onto something good with that idea

Thanks Julz for Sharing Your Pretty Scary World (emphasis on Pretty..). I hope you post some photos of the Night Circus…although clowns rate right at the top of things I do not like (don’t want to EVER meet a clown in a dark alley for example) …I’d love to see what you did with the subject! 😀
