Share your world – 29th October 2019

This week is Halloween, Sall Saints Day, or Samhain if you prefer. Perhaps even Day of the Dead? Here is Australia Halloween (or any of the other versions) is not really such a big thing. I have in previous years usually done a Halloween themed photoshoot, just for fun, but for some reason this year there seems to be more of a push to make it happen here. I know there are more and more shops selling Halloween decorations and candy etc. In recent years we have not had many callers, but perhaps this year if the weather is favourable we may get some. Anyway, let’s get to Melanie’s Halloween week SYW questions

Where’s the line between respectful disagreement and being downright mean (bullying) to someone? Ooh this is a hard one, I think some people have thicker skins than others and what some people may see as reasonable, others may see as bullying. I guess as long as you are respectful and can listen to their reasoning for their beliefs, then it is not bullying. If you are not prepared to listen to the other sides point of view and you are just pushing your side down their throat – then THAT is bullying.

Would you prefer to live in a world where alcohol was free or where politicians were honest? I have been buying my own alcohol for years, happy to keep doing that. An honest politician – NOW THAT is something I would like to see. I do believe that many of them start out with good intentions, but something seems to happen to them on the way up that ladder. It’s like their humanity is squeezed out or something?

What’s one habit you have that your family or friends think is rather childish? When I get REALLY excited I squeal and clap my hands, just like a little kid…I can’t help it.

Would you rather go to a big party and rub shoulders with the rich and famous or go to an amazing quiet Garden that hardly anyone has ever visited? No Contest there – the quiet garden. I do like visited secluded places, where I could be the only person on Earth. I am not good in large crowds, they make me nervous. I am mostly shy and meeting celebrities does not help that. I have even met my fair share of celebrities, I know they are just people too, but its the hullabaloo that follows them around that I can’t stand.

Halloween Question:    What do you think of the idea of “trick or treat or money for a charity” as a way of making Halloween more useful? I have a problem with money for charities, most of them are so busy making money for themselves that they rarely pass it onto those they are raising it for. Like most things these days, it possibly started with good intentions and then turned into a money-making scandal. So NO I do not like charities. I think giving candy to kids on Halloween is fairly innocent, but then in this day and age…it’s scary. We have cretins putting sewing needs in strawberries and grapes over here, hate to think what happens to Halloween candy. I only buy items that are individually wrapped, no handling the food. It is safer for them and us, we eat the leftovers…some years we get no-one and eat it all!

Below are a few Halloween delights I have captured so far this year, there is still one more shoot to edit…
