Christmas is barely a week away and another year draws to a close. I am still attempting to get into the holiday spirit, but it still alludes me. I did get my nails painted sparkly Christmas red, that’s as far as I really have got. I did two Christmas portraits, one for the dogs and one for Jess & her son Connor. Felt no desire or need to do any more. I grudgingly did the Christmas cards last night. I am all for eCards, but actual Christmas cards, I am so totally over them (Is that horrible?).

Anyway here are some more Christmas goodies from Melanie for this week’s SYW

Do you enjoy receiving Christmas cards through snail mail? Not like I used to, jaded I know. It’s like people are sending them because they feel they have to, I know I am. I don’t get excited to open them anymore, I don’t even hang them up. I used to hang them all up, all pretty and colourful.

Do you like the taste and/or smell of peppermint? I adore the smell and the taste, especially if paired with dark chocolate…yummy. I love chocolate peppermint slice or peppermint chocolate bars. I am not a fan of peppermint tea.

What is your least favourite holiday side dish? I don’t think I have one. I don’t eat seafood (A very Aussie thing) as it makes me sick. I adore plum pudding and pavlova, but alas they both make me sick as well. I cannot think of anything I don’t really like. However, our Christmas fare is usually quite simple.

What is the coolest (best) gift you ever gave someone? There have actually been a few but two of the best ones were when the kids were small. One year we planned to stay home, not go anywhere, and we bought the girls their first-ever game console the Sega Mega drive and games. It was also the first year we had AC in the house and the pool. The squeals from the girls when they opened the box and then found out they could play with it all day and even in their bathers after a swim, in the nice cool AC, it was a really hot Christmas day for once. I believe it was a year or so after, they each got a Gameboy (remember those) oh the squeals from the girls that day too…portable games! Our car rides were so quiet from that time on 🙂 I believe we were the coolest parents EVER both of those years!

Bonus question because I thought it was nifty:   What is a Christmas song that makes you cringe?   (Please insert the word “Holiday” for Christmas if Christmas isn’t your thing or bothers you or something) I must admit that the Little Drummer Boy I find a bit irritating for some reason, don’t hate it, just not my fav. According to Esquire, there are some real shockers out there, I have not heard them, but if you’re game here they are – 20 Worst Christmas songs ever

Please share some of your favourite music around this time of year.

A very unhappy Dexter with his Santa hat lol

Granted my favourite songs are not really traditional carols, but there you go, I guess I am not really a traditional gal lol.

I hope you all have a wonderful week…
