Desley arrived mid-morning and we had a lovely 45-minute drive to Dromana, which gave us a chance to catch up. We then stopped at Pier Street Kitchens (a favourite spot of mine) for an early lunch/brunch and more chatting. Just to be able to sit and talk about everything and nothing is really nice. We hadn’t seen each other in a few months, so just reconnecting was great.
After a walk along the boardwalk and the pier by Dromana Beach, we then made the 10 minute trip to Mount Martha and our class at Shoto Ikebana. There are guidelines to follow and our instructor Aileen, guided us every step of the way.
We did three completely different arrangments and had every step and angle explained. Aileen briefed us on the history behind the art form and her own journey to become a teacher.
There is a blog post on my actual website with some behind the scenes images if you are interested…HERE.
Here are my finished arrangements…
It was such an enjoyable and relaxing day. It is sometimes good to get out with friends and enjoy new experiences. I have another ‘experience’ coming up on March and I am so looking forward to it.
