What do you think of best friends of the opposite sex? Or to put it another way “Can men and women ever be platonic friends? Doesn’t sex always get in the way?” Damn silly if you ask me, I have had loads of friends that are men, and trust me they are purely platonic. I don’t see why people need to get all growled up about it. But then, I am not by nature a jealous person. Sure I get envious of what others have, do, get etc, but I am not jealous. My Hubby can go out without me, doesn’t bother me, in fact, if it’s something I don’t want to do I am happy for him to leave me behind. I don’t think sex needs to have anything to do with it. Maybe when you are younger and all those damn hormones are making you crazy it’s possible to get mixed signals, but I think you reach a certain age and maturity that you can generally accept people for WHO they are, not what SEX they are.
What is the greatest struggle you’ve overcome? I quit smoking a few years ago, after a long hospital stay. So glad I did, not so much the health concerns because I do not really feel any better for it. But the cost, cigarettes are so expensive now, with all the taxes!
What is the darkest thought you’ve ever had? What about the darkest thing you’ve done that you’ve never told anybody about? I’m not really comfortable with this one…but happy to do the next
and one ‘fun’ one because I realize those others were pretty deep) For a school assignment my daughter had to plan a dream vacation, unlimited funds…so we actually sat down and mapped it out, first-class all the way, of course, stuff for the kids, stuff for Dad, stuff for me, fabulous things to do together. Trips to Disney World, Cape Canaveral, Mardi Gras, Bourbon St in New Orleans, New York, a Cruise around the Bahamas, staying at Atlantis, it was wonderful and 20 years ago it cost several 100 thousand dollars…oh I would still love to do that trip with Hubby and the kids, still don’t have that kind of money. If I ever win lotto!
What is your least favourite food? I have foods I cannot eat (Eggs, Fish, Lactose), then there are foods I avoid as they give me gas, bloating, heartburn and such (eggplant, cabbage, onion), but I guess if I was to say there was something I do not like it’s squash and coriander, I do not like either of those.
Did you know yesterday was I HATE CORIANDER DAY?
I guess this week I am grateful for Australia’s medical system, as flawed as it is, it still works most of the time. My hubby got raced to the ER last week by ambulance with a suspected heart attack. He spent several hours in the ER with constant monitoring and test. No heart attack, thank goodness. He was admitted into the coronary care unit for 24 hours for observation and more tests and scans. He was released from the hospital as an outpatient last Friday…all of this is free! Under these conditions, you have enough stress and worry without the bills. I have no idea how people without medical care deal with all this sort of thing.
Hubby is still recovering and still needs more tests, everything seems to be OK, but he still has chest pains and is short of breath with a racing heart rate…they are still trying to get to the bottom of it, but believe it is a leaky valve, which he has had problems with before.
Here are some beautiful sunflowers to hopefully add a bit of sunshine to your day…
