OK, so is it just us Aussies or has the whole planet gone bonkers? Everyone here is panic buying everything, rice, sugar, flour, tinned goods and especially toilet paper! This damn Corona Virus is causing complete craziness people are fighting in supermarkets, people getting arrested and one guy got tasered in a Big W! I mean seriously folks. We don’t need to worry about WWIII, we are going to implode. Everyone is in a panic, the dollar is plunging we are looking at a Global Financial crisis on a level that may never have been seen before, all because of the flu? Most reports coming out that most people infected didn’t even know they were sick the symptoms are so mild. Sure there are many people at real risk, but they are already at real risk from the flu and other contagious viruses, this Corona doesn’t seem any worse than others…in fact, when Doctors say they just had the sniffles and didn’t realise that they had it too, you gotta wonder what all the fuss is about?

Now I am being forced to buy what I can, so I don’t miss out too. Honestly, I went and did a normal food shop yesterday and I wanted tinned tomatoes to make spaghetti bolognese and I had to go to two different stores to get 3 small tins! I had to go to 4 different supermarkets to get toilet paper,  we ended up getting some at 6am in the morning when the load came in! I only got one tin of baked beans and one packet of sugar (although I must admit that is all I need for 6 months anyway), there was no flour and virtually no milk! What??????????? Crazy.

Anyway enough of me rambling on, here are this weeks SYW questions

Are you a sweet, sour, tangy or other type of person?  Take that as you will! 😉 I guess I am probably an acquired taste lol, maybe tangy? In regards to food, I don’t really like sour much. I like tangy as long as it is not too hot, I do love my sweet, but not too much. I do like savoury dishes. Wow reading all that back I sound a little boring, oh well, the older I get the more boring and bland I guess my diet is becoming, can’t eat this, can’t eat that. I did just go to a Modern Turkish cooking class and some of the food was divine and I am pretty sure about to be added to the diet!

Does the whole coronavirus phenomenon worry you?  Or are you more a “meh – it’s just another severe flu scare” type of person? See above! I am not a worrier as such about getting it, as it seems as long as you are fairly healthy there is no cause for concern, but I am completely over the sensationalising and panic buying it’s causing. I think I am more worried about what it’s doing to the finances and business globally, that seems to be the biggest scare.

When was the last time you were snooping and found something you wish you hadn’t? You know what? This is bad. I once was given a video camera to use at work (by my boss) and went to check that there was nothing on the memory and found a whole heap of videos. I figured he forgot to remove them so I saved them onto my PC and would let him know they were there for save keeping. I decided to have a little sneaky peek…OMG they were sex tapes! Man, I never could get THAT out of my head, every time I saw him at work I kept thinking about those damn tapes, so embarrassing. I told him I had seen them and was not happy that he had left them there to be seen. Completely unfussed about the whole thing he was like “So? Just delete them.”  I never did know if I should have escalated it or not. He is no longer my boss and I had almost completely forgotten about it…til now!

What’s the most pleasant sounding accent in your personal opinion?   Everyone has a pleasing accent to someone! I love Italians and Irish, no idea why…just something about those accents. The Swedish and Fins are kind of cool too.

I had mostly a weekend of joy. On Friday I got to shoot this amazing ensemble. The Peacock dress (as it has been nicknamed due to its colour and intricate beadwork) is from my studio wardrobe. It has been worn a few times, but not many. I bought it years ago for $7 from a thrift store and replaced the broken zipper, costing me $12! so less than $20 for this incredible dress. Granted the outer tulle also has a few small tears, but I think they add to the look. Bec from Verdessy Fairy Creations custom made this headpiece, but also three others just to match the colour and style. Alexia joined us in the studio for a morning of fabulousness…I mean seriously look at this shot!

I was then joined in the studio by an artist friend and we brainstormed ideas and took some shots for some conceptual pieces. After a morning of creativity, my brain was on fire and kept firing idea after idea.  I will post some soon, still working on the words to go with the images.

Saturday I went to a modern Turkish cooking class with a friend, we made a great day of it and the food was mostly good (a couple of dishes I didn’t really like, like the one below). Still, I had fun with my camera. I really like capturing these lifestyle journalism type shoots.

Meanwhile, I sent Hubby off for a weekend of boys toys, he shot vintage steam trains on Saturday and then on Sunday we went to an airshow and played with some Nikon toys, fell in love with a AUD$5,000.00 lens…I think NOT! But it was good we both got to have fun and different experiences. I loved my cooking class and he would have hated it, I would have enjoyed the trains and planes, but hated how long he was there and the crowds!

Well, that’s enough out of me for today…I hope you are having a wonderful week.
