Spending some quiet time in the studio and doing some light painting is a great form of mediation and self-soothing. It’s quiet and calming and there is a rhythm required that stills the mind and allows you to concentrate on the task at hand. Plus I really enjoy both the shooting and the editing of this style of photography. I love that I can grab pretty much any old thing and use it as a prop. I often use my vintage Kodak Brownie and my dried hydrangeas. I also adore this bid vase I picked up from a thrift store.
This time around I did two slightly different versions of the setup, I must ask which do you prefer?

I prefer the one with the single bunch of flowers–the other one feels slightly cramped to me.

Thanks for you input Mike. Isnt it interesting different people’s aesthetics?

I think we all react somewhat instinctively and have our personal preferences. We often know what we like, but may have trouble articulating why.

I prefer the second version without the second bunch of flowers. The same sentiment at Mike, less crowded.
