Mondays Musings…

Sadly the plague (aka COVID19) is back, we thought we were doing OK, we thought we could go back to some sense of normality. We were wrong! Victoria is now a virtual leper colony, locked off from the rest of the states of Australia. We have higher numbers of infected than anyone. Some say it because we are doing more testing, some say it’s because we had higher number of returning travellers…but is that true. 10 Suburban areas forced back into lock down, 9 city high rises in total lockdown, no-one in or out. It’s surreal. Food limitations in place, but ridiculous ones. Two milk items per person…OK but they have normal milk in 3 litre containers and lactose free, soy and almond in 1 litre containers. I can by 1 bag of pasta, normal pasta in huge bag to feed a family for a month or 1 x small box gluten-free which makes one meal…where is the equality in that. You can buy milk or cream, but not both? huh? I swear I will go mad if they bring back the you can buy panadol or voltaren gel or deep heat, but not both? You can buy frozen ready to cook chips or frozen vegies but not both? That we had a few months ago. The world has gone nuts.

You can riot for equality without a fine, but if you go to the shops you get the third degree from police and possible fine for leaving your suburb without a valid reason? This is Australia for cryin out loud! People could not even go to the ANZAC day parade, but it’s OK to protest, en-mass, in public! Sorry having a rant, just so frustrated, and I guess I am not alone. I took this image a few weeks ago, but it seems to sum it all up…

Plague Doctor

I am conflicted with my workshops I have some in a few weeks, in person, should I cancel or not, it is very small numbers and well tightly controlled, but still is it right to continue with so much turmoil outside? My online classes and workshops continue for now, but I miss the personal connection, not quite the same online.

I did get out for dinner to celebrate a friends birthday, but just three of us, it was quite nice, but so weird in a mostly empty restaurant, one of our regulars, which would normally be packed on a Saturday night. We were also politely asked to leave after about an hour or so, so we went back home and sat and drank a glass of wine and chatted…so very strange. We would normally have a much larger group and drink and chat all night.

I spent most of the weekend preparing for some presentations this week, another class for a community house I will be running online next month, and just chilling in front of the TV. I also ran a three-hour Photoshop class online, which was fun. Just finished When the Heart Calls and The Last Kingdom on Netflix, I know strange combination, one is Hubby and me and the other just me, can you guess which ones?

Overall fairly relaxing, yet frustrating weekend, especially when I went to buy groceries and had to go to two different stores just to get enough milk for my coffee during the week, let alone cooking or breakfast! Still I guess I can’t complain we still have it better here than in other areas of the world. Such a stark contrast to last weekend…

I do hope you stay safe, and well and sane…
