Share your world – 11th August 2020

This week just for fun our SYW questions are Harry Potter based, in particular the Philosopher’s (Sorcerer’s) Stone, also I wonder why it’s called different names in different places?

Questions:

Share Your World Meets Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

Because of the state-wide quarantines many of the local SPCA’s are having an influx of animals. You have decided that you would love to have a new pet. Would you go the normal wizardry route and pick an owl, a cat, or a toad? Or would you become a more eccentric wizard (like Hagrid, the games keeper) and seek out a three-headed dog, a dragon, or a unicorn? Please explain your answer. I think I would really like a unicorn. I loved horses growing up, and a unicorn is kind of like a really cool magical horse, right? Can you ride a unicorn? Or is that just for fairy folk? I wouldn’t mind, I doubt I could get on a horse or a unicorn these days, we could just keep each other company.

Neville Longbottom was gifted a Remembrall. This was a glass ball that would assist you in maintaining memories of things that you often forget. What would you want your Remembrall to help you remember? I have often joked I’d love a Rememberall, probably to remember what I had forgotten. Buying one so you don’t forget a certain thing seems a mute point, how do you know you will forget it? I’d just like something that will remind me why I walked into the kitchen/bedroom, where I put my keys/coffee cup stuff like that.

Professor Dumbledore gave Harry Potter an invisibility cloak that Dumbledore said was from Harry’s father. Now, you have inherited a cloak with similar powers. Would you use it? When? Midnight snacks? I’d say sneaking into a concert or the movies…but there are none. Sun baking at the beach to get that perfect all over tan…except it’s Winter. Even hiding from the kids would have been a good one, but now they are both adults. I can’t wait to read what others wrote.

While cleaning your attic, you have discovered the Mirror of Erised. (“Erised” is “desire” spelled backwards, as if reflected in a mirror) The Mirror of Erised is a magical mirror, which, according to Professor Dumbledore, when you gaze into it, it shows the “deepest, most desperate desire of our hearts.” You have chosen to look in the mirror. What do you see? Young and 20 something, thin, fit but with the age and wisdom I now have…is that too much to ask?

Could this be a Rememberall?

Gratitude:

This week even though I am now working from home 24/7 is a little less hectic. We have been having some sunny afternoons, which have been nice. The nights and early mornings are still really quite cold, but blue skies and fluffy white clouds…Spring is on it’s way. Maybe…just maybe we might be able to enjoy some of it out in the world, instead of just our own backyard? let’s see what the next few weeks has ins tore for us.

Whatever you are up to this week, I hope it is a good one, stay safe…
