Today marks the change of seasons, but in reality Spring (or true Spring) is still a little way off yet. However, it does make a marked difference when the sun is shinning and there is hope and promise in the air, for warmer days. This week’s SYW is another Harry Potter themed from the Goblet of Fire, so let’s jump in shall we?
- Many local regions, especially rural areas where, have haunted houses. Have you ever spent the night in a house that was supposedly haunted? Anything ‘strange” happen? I don’t think I have ever spent the night, but I have done a few ‘Ghost tours’ and no nothing really happened, that we didn’t make happen. Check out one weekend we spent in Beechworth with some friends and a lunatic asylum.
- The Quidditch Cup (riding broomsticks while chasing a small ball) was a huge sporting event in the land of Hogwarts. What is the largest sporting event (or concert, etc.) that you have ever attended? I am not big on sports and have not been to anything major, a few AFL games, but that is about it. I have been to quite a few concerts; Elton John, Eagles, AC/DC, Pink, Sting & Paul Simon…and that is just in the last few years!
- When you go for a swim, do you prefer an ocean, the seaside lakes, or a pool? I don’t often swim these days, if I do mostly a pool. I don’t like deep water, so if it is the ocean it is near the edges. I don’t like things touching me in the water, so fish, seaweed or anything like that creeps me out. I also don’t like to swim where I can’t see the bottom. But I think at one point or another I have swam in ocean, river, lake, pool etc. We used to have our own pool, but at this house we just have a Jacuzzi/spa.
- Ron Weasley received a horrid robe to wear as formalwear to the Christmas dance at Hogwarts. Tell about the most ‘ghastly’ fashion statement that you have ever made. Just about anything I wore in the 70s makes me cringe, 80s almost as bad lol. They had such bad fashions back then. I found this white sailors hat and I wore it every where, it was my fashion ‘thing’ that and a pair of white overalls…don’t ask.
Still safe in the security of my little bubble, I try and keep the outside world, out. We are still under stage 4 restrictions and while some see an end in sight, I think it may actually get extended. Some silly people are frustrated and bored (which I do totally understand) but rioting is only going to extend things even further and the last four weeks of lock down will have been a waste of time if these idiots don’t stop large gatherings in public. They say they are being imprisoned…and yes we are but they are just enforcing the point that some people are just too selfish to do good for everyone else. But that’s my rant.
Apart from that, we have been quite busy revamping and renovating the home office/study, time for a more modern look and feel, and possibly a little more organised. We have emptied it out, demolished the other shelves and desk. Patched, painted the ceiling and now about to start painting the walls. The new furniture pieces arrived yesterday.

I know a few friends who have revamped their whole house and furniture, we have not gone quite that far, but this is a great project. We totally renovated this house and the gardens since we moved in 20 years ago, but have not done anything for a few years now. I guess I was “over it” and needed a break.

Stay safe and have an enjoyable week…

Thanks Julz for Sharing Your World! Here in the U.S.A., we’re winding into Fall and it’s gotten a lot cooler very quickly. It’s chilly enough at night to bring out the blankets in fact. Ziggy gets cold, and so do I! I hope it’s not a portent of a really early, really cold Winter too. Lucky you with Spring on the way. The ‘fashions’ from the 1970s and 80s were pretty awful, weren’t they? Great photo image too! You have quite a gift! Have a great and glorious week…things are ramping up with the virus over here, and there’ll be some restrictions imposed I’m sure, although a lot of places are opening their doors. I’ve stayed home and probably will continue to stay home. I hope your area sees an easing up of the rules a bit.
