Spring bees…

Technically honey bees are not native to Australia, we do have our own blue banded bees, but I don’t think I have actually ever seen one up close. Supposedly our natives don’t sting…or is that an urban myth? Anyway, honey bees are a lovely sight and perform such a big job. Before we changed our garden to natives we had lots of european wasps…horrible creatures. Now with our lovely native gardens we have different birds and bees and very few wasps…so much nicer.

Anyway one Sunday morning after some rain we had a lovely patch of sunshine and the bees were very busy in my weeping cherry trees…still in bloom. Here are just a few.

Mind you I still can’t really see a stinger on these, so are they native or not? At least they are no agressive.
