Oops, I think I missed a week (or maybe two) in there somewhere. Things have been getting a little hectic, hey it happens right? Now that we are officially out of lockdown, no Covid cases for nearly a month….woohoo. We are back travelling and doing the things we love. But more on that later…
Now for this weeks SYW…
If not now, then when? That’s a really good question. I must say I do have to agree with it, apart from food shopping and housework…those I will get to eventually lol. Carpe Diem – seize the day. That has been a bit of a motto for the last few years. I often getting asked HOW I seem to be visiting cool places, shooting cool people and things and just doing cool stuff in general. One little word – Yes. Taking a chance and going places, doing things and connecting with people I would never have a change of meeting or doing. I love it. So again, if not now?????
Can you describe your life in a six-word sentence? Imaginative dreamer who likes fun adventures
Do you remember that thing people used to say, about how you swallow eight spiders a year while you sleep? It’s not true, but do you think you’ve ever swallowed any? What bug do you think you’ve eaten the most of by accident? Spiders, no I don’t think so, flies…sure. You’re not an Aussie til you’ve swallowed at least a few. Thrips (maybe and Aussie thing) tiny little bugs in Summer, try riding a bike or horse…you’re bound to eat a few. Fresh Protein we always used to say…YUCK!
What’s the best approach to resolving conflict? I don’t know about the best way, I usually run the other direction. But I guess tackling it head on, trying to see the other persons point of view.
Where do you find inspiration? I find inspiration everywhere, a book, a movie, a song, a flower, a tree and piece of fabric. My problem is not finding inspiration, it’s finding time to shoot everything or create everything I dream of.
My inspiration and other peoples taste don’t always align. I explored some haunting and disturbing pieces over the weekend. I visited both an old lunatic asylum and a goal for the criminally insane, it just seemed to fit to explore the dark and creepy in dark and creepy ways. Direction I had not done before or for a long time. I surprised even myself of how dark it got. My model was upset by some images that she saw taken of her in a morgue, the really haunting series of The Body, may never see the light of day, they were too ‘real’ too ‘raw’ and very believable. I guess I blurred the line between art and poor taste, but never saw it at the time.
But that is a discussion for another day. I am glad I captured Mania, above. I had never had access to a cast iron bath with a model in suitable clothes in a creepy location before. It all came together.
