Share your world – 17th August 2021

Victorians have been grounded! Thanks to a few selfish naughty people, the City of Melbourne (and surrounds) is now confined to their homes. We cannot leave without permission, we have a curfew, we cannot see our friends (but we can talk on the phone). At least they didn’t take our phones and computers away! Honestly it’s for our own good, but each lockdown gets harder and harder. It’s heart-breaking and damn near impossible to run a small business properly.

Anyway…onto this week’s SWY questions

Questions:

When you just need to forget the world for a few hours, what helps you get away from it all? Netflix, or a good book. I used to say perhaps social media, but I am finding that difficult, too many people making stupid and upsetting comments. So I like to hide away in a fantasy world. A good book or movie is always a lovely escape. If the weather is nice I like to take my book outside in the garden and really escape from it all.

If you woke up tomorrow with a unicorn horn extending from the top of your head, what would be the biggest advantage and disadvantage of your new appendage? These days I seem to have a problem with spatial awareness, I am always bumping into things. So having a huge horn sticking out of my forehead would only make things worse, I could imagine. Although if I had the magic that went along with that said horn, well then…perhaps I could grant wishes for myself?

What is the creepiest thing you’ve ever seen someone do, that you’d be willing to talk about, of course? Not that I’ve seen it in person, just on TV and the internet, maybe read it in a book? Like a frog…eeewwwwww apparently some frogs have hallucinogenic properties, but I mean really, like a frog. Yuck! Creep factor 10.

What’s the silliest or pettiest thing that tends to really upset you? As much as this is a pet peeve, right now I can’t think of one in particular…silly isn’t it? However, when I am in a bad mood or upset, my Hubby tries to make me smile or laugh, sometimes it works and other times it makes me want to scream at him. I also get envious or jealous of some one else’s success, then get mad at myself as I feel that it is stupid. I should just be happy for them. How’s that for honesty?

How comfortable are you with meeting others who are very different from yourself? (no judgment implied.  Different in any way you’d like to think about – different cultures, different races, different mind set (opinions)? I am often uncomfortable meeting new people for the first time anyway, so that’s puts me off anyway. Different cultures/races in general don’t bother me. If there is a language barrier – well that can make me really uncomfortable. We don’t travel overseas often and so far have only travelled to countries where they speak English, so that has made things easier. I do occasionally have a problem with different foods, it may be ‘normal’ for them, but I just can’t bring myself to try. Different mind sets? Well that’s a little different. When faced with someone who I disagree with on politics, religion, social issues, well then I often just hold my tongue and politely nod indifference and then remove myself as quickly as possible. We frequently feel people who don’t agree with our beliefs to be stupid or at the very least wrong, don’t we?

Gratitude:

I guess the biggest thing I am grateful for is internet and cell phones. I may have to physically isolate, but I can reach out to people if I need to.

So that’s my world for this week, stay sane, stay safe…
