Share your world – 5th April 2022

Many people have been saying for a while now, it’s not IF you will catch Covid, it’s WHEN. Well my when was nearly two weeks ago. It started with a sore scratchy throat, then the headache, the body aches and then the fever. Then it hit my lungs and the constant coughing. I couldn’t stop coughing, making breathing difficult. Reminded me of when the kids had croup. The only thing that helped was a hot steamy shower. Made for a few horrible days and nights. Made breathing difficult. But slowly I managed to get on top of things. Still have a horrible cough, and doing even the simplest tasks is exhausting.

But yesterday I actually got off the couch and spent a few hours in the studio, I even grabbed the camera and played in the backyard between rain showers…until the cold air got me coughing again and I ventured back inside. Still small steps in the right direction.

So let’s get on with this week’s SYW questions

Are you more productive at night or in the morning? Do you think it’s possible to change and get used to another schedule? I used to be a night owl. But these days I only seem to function during the daylight hours. Not too early and I can’t stay up too late. It’s so weird. I used to have so much energy, even just a few years ago, now I need more sleep. I thought we were supposed to require less sleep as we got older?

What’s the biggest vehicle you’ve driven?  If you don’t drive, what’s the biggest vehicle you’ve ridden in? Nothing fancy, just a 4WD, I’ve been in trucks and buses and even trains, of course, but never driven them.

What songs would be played on a loop in hell?  (Suspend disbelief for this one, it’s cool not to believe in Hell, but let’s use our imaginations to answer.  Of course one can always skip the questions they find odd too.  And yes, I took into account that individual tastes will influence individual choices.) Hermans Hermits? Don’t ask me why I just don’t really like them much. Hubby tries to play it and I’m like, move along! Apart from that, the only other thing I can think of is that stupid Bird is the Word song…you know from like Family Guy (the TV show)?

(Deep and chewy philosophical question):     What does it mean to be a person?  What constitutes “personhood?” (there may be some diverse opinions, but we’re all mature adults in here, so be respectful of others please). Interestingly I am watching a Psychology Masterclass (of sorts – it only goes for about 1 hour), but it is fairly interesting. We all have needs and motivators. But what does it mean to be a person? I have no real idea. To be an accepted part of a unit, to be safe and healthy and happy. To be able to seek connection with another being on an intimate level (not necessarily sex). To be allowed to exist and to allow others to do the same?

How were your spirits (mood) over the past week? I have been living in a perpetual brain fog. Covid does something to your brain, hopefully, the effects are short term. But there is real evidence of Covid affecting neurological functions and these are just the basic Covid Fog;

  • Confusion
  • Loss of smell and taste (I never experienced this one)
  • Headaches
  • Trouble focusing

There are even worse symptoms and long term effects including changes in behaviour and stroke. Covid really is a scary disease, and with so many people suffering from long covid…I just hope being triple vaccinated works in my favour. I hate to think how sick I would have been without it. So I guess I have been feeling pretty sooky and down, it’s hard to be upbeat when you feel pretty crappy.

Still getting out in the garden, between rain showers was a nice and easy thing to do for me. I even had the cat for company, he doesn’t mind the rain…Dexter the dog on the other hand would prefer to be cuddled up on the couch under a blanket!

I hope you have a great week…
