I’m a bit of a creature of habit. I visit some of the same local spots, over and over. Mostly because they are lovely spots to visit, at any time of the year. But also as the travel, parking and getting about is easier for me. So when a friend said she hadn’t been to Australia Gardens in a while, I suggested we meet there, have a wander around and then have coffee.
Remember – it’s Winter here, so it was time to rug up. Coats, hats and gloves. It was chilly, but blue skies when I left home. By the time I got to the gardens some 20-minute drive away, the sky had turned grey and the drizzle arrived. I met Sue and we opted to get a coffee and share a toasted sandwich while we waited for the weather to clear. Sure enough, it did.
In between short drizzly rain showers, it was rather pleasant, walking and chatting. I went armed with my 300mm lens to see how my luck went with the birds. We also spotted a bandicoot, several wattle birds and honey eaters and a cormorant catching yabbies in the lake.

All in all, it was a good morning, we finished off with another coffee. By name it was lunchtime, we could have gone out for lunch, but then I would have gotten nothing done that day…we would have spent the afternoon talking! Still, it was lovely, if not cold and a bit wet few hours with my friend. Not long after the storms really took hold, so it was nice to be home then.

Nice. I’m not privileged enough to have a house where I can install solar (I live in a condo) and EV are outside my budget for a car.

Lovely photos Julie from a great outing. I must check out the gardens next time I get down that way! Certainly not that warm where I am but the sun has come out today! Lynn

Awesome sunshine here today, hope you are getting some of it Julie! Just saw the most amazing sight over an hour ago. We were sitting on our bench outside in the sun and suddenly a beautiful flock of 9 pelicans flew over and circled above for several minutes. You could hear the sound of the wings and hear their beaks clicking. I didn’t have a chance to grab a camera but maybe it is better to enjoy the moment. I think they decided our dam was too small to land! We are only about 10 minutes drive from Goughs Bay and Lake Eildon so maybe they came in from there? Enjoy your weekend! Lynn
