Another month of Lightroom play for Robyn at Captivate Me One Four Challenge, where we take one photo and make four different images, effects or style. I chose to do four different sets of Lightroom presets, and each week I showcased four different individual presets. I usually finish off the month with a B&W version, so I will this month as well, featuring Mike Newton’s B&W Presets; Black Blast, Heart of Darkness, Tintype Portrait & Police Line Up.
Week 3 – On One Movie Presets
Week 2 Niolesy Matte Presets
Week 1 – Kim Klassen Be Still Presets
PS ~ All presets used have either been bought, freely given away class content, freebies offered from various Websites (OnOne) or Facebook. I have legal commercial rights to use.
Til Next week, happy snapping…
Week 3 of Robyn at CaptivateMe’s One Four Challenge, and I have been playing with various pre made Lightroom Presets, this week is OnOne Movie Presets; Arkham, Blue Dawn, Tijuana and Wonka…
Week 3 – On One Movie Presets
Week 2 – Nicolesy Matte Presets
Week 1 – Kim Klassens Be Still Presets
Don’t forget you can check oiut the images on Flickr. Til next week, happy snapping…
One Four Challenge is back on WordPress for the month of August, last week I was playing with Kim Klassen Lightroom Presets, this week it is Niceolsy Lightroom Matte Presets; 8, 1, 6 & 2
Some may argue that there is a lot of difference and I will admit it is subtle, but it is nice to compare all the presets on the same image these are the ones from last week
And of course the original, perhaps next week I will look at some more extreme Presets.
Til next week, happy snapping…
I have really been enjoying Robyn’s (Captivate Me) One Photo Challenge on Flickr these last few months and I have been exploring various plugins and LR Filters. August it is back in WordPress, so I thought I would play a little more, but in a slightly different way. Each week I am planning to take the same shot of hydrangea and treat it to 4 different filters, by the same person or in the same set ie; These 4 images are Kim Klassen Be Still and Sampler Lightroom Presets; Prairie, Dark Day, Friday and Breathe…

I know July hasn’t even finished yet and the One Four Challenge is still currently on Flickr, but I thought I would share the wondrous transformation of this image the first I ran through Nik Viveza…….I love the high key softness, undersaturated colours
Topaz Impression 2 – Painterly
Topaz Impressions 2 – Impasto Finger Paint
Nik Analog – Antique Camera effects
Now this final image I have used so many different layers, filters, plug ins, I honestly cannot remember where one started and the other finished……I love the soft pencil like effect which was mostly Topaz Adjust pencil effects (I think), then I hand painted (with a Wacom Tablet) the highlights and shadows on her body and the bed and curtains. I think the face requires a little more work before I am done, perhaps a little more detail to bring out her features; but so far I am thrilled with the rest of it.
Have you ever taken a picture, and then played with it, to see how many different variation, styles, looks, moods and feel you can create? Til next time, happy snapping…
Yesterday I did a post for my Flickr entries for the One Four Challenge for June and got me thinking, I am sure I have posted any pics from April either. I took a simple photo of this gorgeous hydrangea I shot over summer, or was it early autumn and gave it an aged painterly look. I love the more abstract feel I can get playing with these images, the colour, the scale, no restraints and no judgement…..total freedom.
Until next time, enjoy play, travel safe and happy snapping…
I know technically the One Four Challenge is only on WP every few months, but behind the scenes some of us have been doing it on Flickr……I do it in bits and pieces, which is nice sometimes to have something evolve organically. Other times I just throw up one here and there………but definitely not one image every week, but it is still fun!
I predominately played in new Topaz Impressions V2 and and various different paint effects, I love the last one which is and Impasto Finger Painting..isn’t if fabulous!

Week 4 for Robyn’s One Four Challenge. So I revisited the image I posted last week and keeping the foreground and sky (and raven), I added the main Bridge from Bonnie Doon (same location as the dry lake bed was shot) and added that to the side,as well as more clouds and the Colby Files dancer which I added angel wings, it kind of reminded me of a rain dance…….so that’s what I called it; Rain Dance
So much more creative than what I started with in week 1, don’t you think?
I think we go on break again after this month for WP, but don’t forget you can still continue on Flickr.
The last few weeks, I have been in a bit of a creative funk, it happens. Some people stress over it, or walk away from it, I just usually work my way through it……..sounds silly but if I keep at it, my muse will eventually come back. Apparently my Muse just went for more coffee and chocolate and now we are back into again.
So I started with this original image
Then did this edit for Week 1 portraying the arid, desolate landscape of drought effected rural Victoria. Quite photo journalistic of me, wasn’t it?
Then Week 2, was quite frankly a half hearted attempt to make things a little more light and fluffy. Honestly it really does not inspire much creativity, does it? I had actually planned to do something MORE with this image, but week 2 wasn’t it.
So this is week 3 – Time Stands Still, it’s a work in progress, but it is more like what I had in mind. I took the original image and added a new sky and dramatic clouds. Removed the underwhelming dead tree and put in something more substantial, added some birds and the clock face and lantern. Then I added some texture and coloured filters……….I like the airy, dreamy feel of it so far.
Now that I have done this………….were do I head to from here? There was a really cool bridge where this was shot, maybe I can do something with that?
Til next time, may your Muse be with you and happy snapping…
It’s Back, it’s back Robyn’s One Four Challenge, mind you in saying that some of us have been continuing on Flickr, it’s just on the blog it is now only every few month; but still it’s back on WP for May. If you would like to check out what’s been happening on Flickr you can check out my Album here.
I wasn’t sure what to do for this morning, but I took some images last weekend that I really wanted to do something with. I have started off slowly for the first post. I cropped it, increased the clarity and added a new Pre-set titled Chocolate Shadows; I wanted to give it a air of desperation, arid harshness, the mere puddle of water behind the dead tree and ravaged cracked earth.
This is Lake Eildon, completely bone dry, nothing depicts the draught we are going through more than an image like this.
