WPC – My Place in the World

This week’s Weekly Photo Challenge, asks…

For this week’s photo challenge, explore what it means to find your place in the world. Where’s your safe space? Where do you go when you need to feel inspired or cheered up? Do you prefer to feel cozy and comforted in a smaller town or do you thrive on the buzz of a big city?

I have mixed thoughts about my own Capital city, Melbourne. She is truly stunning and theatrical and amazing, I love her at dawn, night, and sunset. But I am not really a fan of big cities as such, nor of architecture, and certainly not a fan of crowds. Still, there are moments when She still captivates me, especially in a quiet corner away from the hustle and bustle.

But my true place in the world is a little quieter, and where seeing other people is a rarity, don’t get me wrong I like people, I work with people, it’s just that I like alone time too. I like to reset and re-charge and only conversing with nature can do that.

I love to reconnect with nature, share it’s wonder and beauty and joy. I never used to appreciate the beauty that surrounds me as much as I do now. A second chance and a camera taught me to explore and appreciate. While I love my home and my home city, I love exploring.

So I guess the long answer short is; anyplace I am exploring this big wide world, with my camera, is my place. Even if it is new and raw and at times a little daunting or scary, Mother Nature has taught me my place on this big blue planet, and I am OK with that. 🙂
