Spring Outings – Dandenong Ranges Botanic Gardens

Dandenong Ranges Botanic Gardens, Formerly known as the National Rhododendron Gardens, but it has so much more than just rhododendrons these days. We went because I was under the impression from various photos online that the Cherry Tree Orchard was in bloom, sadly it was not. However, the Crab Apple Trees were and so pretty too. We arrived at the gardens before they opened at 10am (this is a must pretty much any time of the year, as parking is difficult to find later in the day). It was very pleasant wandering the paths around the gardens and capturing the blooms everywhere, not only rhododendron (of course) but magnolias, natives, camellias and azaleas.

Shame about the cherry blossoms, but you can’t always get what you want, I guess. Still, it was a lovely morning finished off with coffee and cake. I hope we can get to some more gardens this Spring before the weather heats up.
