2024 South Australia & Kangaroo Island Road Trip – Day 6 – Part 1

Up super early as we planned on catching the sunrise at Remarkable Rocks. We watched the sky light up before us and we misjudged the drive in, but it was incredible to watch. Still a beautiful morning and we caught most of it, but the pre-dawn colour was astounding. Just proves you can never tell.

We spent a few hours wandering around the area then headed back to the cabin for coffee and  breakfast.

We caught up with some of the local koalas and wallabies after breakfast, so nice to have them IN the caravan Park.

Wedgetail Eagle at Raptor Domain

We headed over to Raptor Domain for a birds of prey show. Although I might leave that for a separate blog post, as I took so many photos.

We then had a delicious lunch at Vivonne Bay, and wandered down to the jetty for a look.

A quick stop at Hanson Bay (this area was devastated by the fires as well). Then back to the cabin for a coffee before heading back to capture Remarkable Rocks in afternoon light. It looks quite different and loses a lot of colour without the morning light touching it. It was also quite warm as the rock heats up during the day from the sun, away from the rock it was cooler and quite breezy.

Very quiet with virtually no one around. The sky wasn’t even looking promising for sunset, so we left to go have dinner. Boy were we wrong, the sky popped while we were cooking dinner. Such a shame. No real vantage points to capture sunset here either, just trees, cabins and scrub in that direction. Another early night as we planned sunrise at the lighthouse.

Here ends day 6 Part 1….stay tuned for Day Day 6 Part 2!
